Mr. Packwood represented the state of Oregon in the United States Senate for 26 years. While in the Senate, he was chair of the Senate Commerce Committee and was chair of the Senate Finance Committee when the landmark Tax Reform Act of 1986 was passed. Prior to being in the Senate, he served in the Oregon House of Representatives for six years.
